The Co-Ownership Struggle Is Real – Why I’m Building a Co-Ownership Platform That Works

Updated: Jul 17, 2025

Four friends standing side by side with arms around each other’s shoulders, facing away from the camera – symbolising unity and shared ownership.

A personal look at why I built Equly, a platform designed to bring clarity, structure, and trust to modern co-ownership.

The Reality That Sparked Equly

I’m building Equly because I’ve lived the challenges of co-ownership first-hand.

I’ve shared property, vehicles, and business assets with others. Like many people, I started with trust, optimism, and informal arrangements. We used WhatsApp to chat, spreadsheets to track expenses, and verbal promises to make decisions.

But when things changed, when someone wanted to leave, or when money got tight - it all became complicated.

No structure. No clarity. No fair exit.

It didn’t just cause stress. It left money, friendships, and opportunities at risk.

Why Co-Ownership Is Growing

Today, co-ownership is becoming a necessity.

Home ownership feels out of reach for many. The cost of living continues to rise. People are launching side hustles and investing in shared ventures with others.

Sharing is practical. But without the right tools, it’s risky.

There’s no standard system for setting clear terms, tracking ownership, or resolving disputes. Most people rely on informal trust instead of reliable infrastructure.

That’s the problem Equly is solving.

What I’m Building

Equly is a platform designed to make co-ownership easier to manage and easier to trust.

It will help people:

  • Set clear ownership terms

  • Track payments and income

  • Handle exits with less stress

  • Avoid disputes through upfront structure

I’m not trying to replace trust. I’m trying to support it with tools that protect everyone involved.

The Market Is Ready for a Co-ownership Platform

This is bigger than just one story. Around the world, millions are sharing homes, vehicles, and business assets, often without a clear plan.

At the same time, investors and partners are looking for platforms that improve access, inclusion, and financial resilience.

Equly sits in that gap. It brings structure to a growing but unsupported behaviour.

Who I’m Building For

Equly is for anyone who owns something with someone else.

It’s for:

  • Friends buying a home together

  • Siblings sharing a rental property

  • Couples co-owning a car

  • Small teams managing a side hustle or income-generating asset

And it’s for the investors and partners who believe that ownership can be fairer, smarter, and more efficient.

Join the Journey

Equly is in development. I’m speaking with potential users, legal partners, and early investors to shape the platform the right way.

If this resonates with you:

Let’s build a better way to co-own.

Own more, together.
